“There is no force so powerful as an idea whose time has come.”—Everett Dirksen
Dear Prabhus, please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Time has shown that the GBC’s ridiculous idea for initiations does not work! When you think about it, it goes against all common sense, and is completely unprecedented! What was wrong with the way things were being done when, in 1977, in his “Declaration of Will” - http://pratyatosa.com/?P=3v, Srila Prabhupada personally ordered that nothing should be changed? But the rascals who were on the GBC at that time kept Srila Prabhupada’s will a secret, and then proceeded to change the way initiations were being carried out, and from that point on, it was “down hill all the way.”
Please see “82 Items of Comparison Between Conditions in ISKCON when Srila Prabhupada was Personally Present with Today’s Conditions” (http://pratyatosa.com/?P=42):
“16. There used to be a great deal of camaraderie among the ISKCON sannyasis; now that they are competing for disciples, much of this is gone.”
I have personally heard the following words come out of the mouths of ISKCON sannyasi/“gurus,” in reference to other ISKCON sannyasis/ “gurus”:
b. “{Sannyasi/’guru’ B} shouldn’t be on the GBC. He doesn’t even attend the morning program regularly.”
c. “{Sannyasi/’guru’ C} initiates criminals.”
d. “A Sannyasi doesn’t go to college.”
e. “Gurus shouldn’t be on the GBC. Then they don’t have time to do either service properly.”
f. “Gurus who believe that they know the inside story behind the ’UFOs’ are in maya.”]
Now Harikesa Dasa, an ISKCON “guru” with over 3000 disciples, is saying things like, “I am … quite disgusted and appalled at the hardness, cruelness and heartlessness of the leaders of ISKCON,” “…this movement is mainly interested in money, power, buildings and empty institutionalization without any real spiritual energy or power…,” and “…ISKCON is worse than the material world….”
This is nothing new. They were tearing each other apart from day one. For example, when my wife, my oldest son, and I moved to New Vrndavana, in 1980, I heard it said, “The other 10 gurus are all bogus, except for maybe Satswarupa Maharaj.”
How can the ISKCON “grand disciples,” have faith that their respective “gurus” are going to take them back to Godhead, when this sort of criticism of each other is going on? …And it’s going to get worse, not better. The ISKCON system of gurus goes against all common sense. Who, but a self motivated rascal, would promote such a ridiculous system? The system was doomed from the day it was conceived. Where in history is there a precedent for an organization with more than seventy self-proclaimed saints running around, all pretending to be very spiritually advanced, while, at the same time, tearing each other apart? …And such a small organization at that!
They even condemn the Christians, saying that the Christians can’t possibly have a direct relationship with Lord Jesus, or make any spiritual advancement, without the help of a “living guru.” Srila Prabhupada never said this! What about Saint Francis of Assisi? From what I’ve heard, he was much more advanced than any of these modern day ISKCON “guru/saints.”
The longer that the GBC clings to this system of “the cheaters and the cheated,” the worse it’s going to be. Do they want to be remembered for the next 10,000 years as the biggest fools in vaisnava history? When are they going to wake up to reality?
Your servant,
Pratyatosa Dasa
