Śrīla Prabhupāda’s letter to Kīrtanānanda, 11 February, 1967:
| I wish that each and every Branch shall keep their independent identity and cooperate keeping the Acarya in the centre. On this principle we can open any number of Branches all over the world. The Ramakrishna mission works on this principle and thus as organization they have done wonderfully. |
The Ramakrishna mission achieves “this principle” that Śrīla Prabhupāda wants to be followed in ISKCON through a ṛtvik system. The ṛtvik system is a system whereby ṛtviks (priests) perform initiations on behalf of the spiritual master (Śrīla Prabhupāda).
