31 years ago today, I saw Śrīla Prabhupāda in person for the
first time. At that time, on December 26, 1969, ISKCON was a
winning team, and in 1977 ISKCON was more of a winning team than
any of us could have imagined in 1969! ISKCON had the best coach in
the world, Śrīla Prabhupāda, and thousands of winning players,
namely Śrīla Prabhupāda’s sincere, devoted, hard working disciples.
This made certain members of the Gauḍīya Maṭha in India very
envious.
Have you ever heard of the managers of a winning team firing or alienating 90% of the players and replacing the coach with a committee of unqualified, inexperienced, pretender coaches? What can be said of such managers? Are they not incredibly stupid, useless, crazy, and more trouble than they are worth? How is history going to record the misdeeds of such a group of idiots?
